About DWP!

A little about Patti

When I was divorced and living in Florida in 2002, I stepped out of my comfort zone (I had never danced before) and went to a Country Dance Club.  When I saw Line Dancing I thought I HAVE TO DO THAT!!  So, I went to my first lesson and it was horrible.  I couldnt do it at ALL!!  (I learned later that the dance the instructor was trying to teach me was no where close to a beginner dance.)  But, I still felt like I HAD to learn so I started going to a Senior Center in my town where 80 and 90 yr olds were kickin' my butt on the floor!!  But, I felt myself learning some of the basic steps and pretty soon I was dancing in the Clubs in Orlando and having a blast!!  It was all I wanted to do...it changed my life!

In 2004, I met Stan.  He didnt know anything about line dancing but he knew that if we were gonna date, he'd HAVE to learn...and learn he did.  He taught himself really hard dances from step sheets as we continued a long distance relationship. He had discovered some dance places in PA and was going regularly.  In 2004, I made another leap out of my comfort zone and moved to PA to be with him....another GREAT decision!!!  I started teaching at The Brickette Lounge in West Chester and I had another class at a local VFW.  I loved my classes.  I loved teaching line dancing!

Last year, Stan and I moved to Woodstown. We just fell in love with this area!!  I started teaching line dance at Sidelines and we had a great time every Monday!

We had never been to Friendly Tavern but we had certainly heard about the rich dance history of this great place!  To have a chance to teach a class there is a real honor for us!

If you are planning to come to our new Monday night class and you are one of the "Friendly Tavern Regulars" from way back, I hope you'll be patient with me, understanding that I'm a fairly new dancer in the grand scheme of things.  I might not know all the dances you have in your back pocket.  I have worked this past year to make sure that I taught many of the dances being done on Wed/Sat so that my students can come to my class and learn and then go out and dance with the Big Dawgs on other nights.  I kind of see my class as a "catch and release" program!  I love to hear of my dancers going out and being able to get on the floor other places!!

At the same time, I really love learning new dances and teaching those.  So we will definitely be doing some of those!!

My main goal is to HAVE FUN and get some GREAT EXERCISE!!  I try to do my best to help people get the dances and keep all levels of dancers engaged (which can be a bit of a challenge if ya have beginner dancers and very experienced dancers at the same time.)  I'll try to make sure you get your $5.00 worth!!

I hope to meet YOU on the floor soon!!
